SKATING ADDED TO HHF WINTER OUTING - Sunday, Feb 1, at 12:30-1:45PM

GREAT NEWS! The MA Adaptive Hockey program has donated ice time for our HHF families at a nearby ice rink (12 minutes from the Hotel) on Sunday, Feb 1, at 12:30-1:45PM.

All levels of skaters are welcome (from beginners to hockey players). Please join our extended fun-filled HHF weekend with one more activity for the entire family to enjoy :) **

**limited skate rentals, bring your own if possible**

Remembering Harold ‘Hal’ Connolly, Boston College grad, who was the last American to win the Olympic hammer throw gold medal in 1956 By Kevin Paul Dupont (August 10, 2024)

The statue (SEE BELOW) of 1956 Olympic hammer throw gold medalist Harold Connolly, located at the corner of Warren and Cambridge Streets in Brighton.

If you don’t know about Harold “Hal” Connolly, or about his Olympic gold medal, or how his disabled left arm ultimately became his driving motivation, then be sure to visit his statue at the corner of Warren and Cambridge Streets in Brighton.

Connolly’s bronzed likeness, an elegant piece of art sculpted by Pablo Eduardo, depicts Connolly in full, determined, powerful, just as he’s about to heave the hammer into the next galaxy. His muscles bulge in his arms and legs, his neck is stretched and strained. It is a quintessential tableau of force and torture, an Olympian’s ingredients of triumph.

It’s how Connolly, then age 25, looked at the 1956 Games, in Melbourne, Australia, the day (Nov. 24) he became an Olympic champion with a toss of 207 feet, 3 inches. Across the 1950s and ‘60s, Connolly dominated the world stage in hammer throwing for a 10-year stretch, and to this day he is the lone male athlete out of Boston College (Class of ‘53) ever to win Olympic gold.

NubAbility Sport Camps - 50 NEW CAMPER SCHOLARSHIPS & MORE (first-come basis)!

NUBABILITY on a mission to find 50 new campers and provide them with a scholarship so they can attend their first NubAbility camp.

The "Finding 50 Scholarships" will cover all registration fees for one camper and parent and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. The only requirement is that the child has never attended one of our camps before. The scholarship can be used for any of our camps this year.

In addition, thanks to the generosity of Walmart, we are providing a limited number of travel scholarships for families who would otherwise be unable to come to camp. These scholarships are open to new and returning campers and will be awarded based on financial need.

2023 Winter Outing was a Success!

After two years of hosting virtual Winter Outings, it was great finally be back in-person for the 2023 Winter Outing, and we look forward to seeing our members at the 2024 Winter Outing.

A special thank you to our Winter Outing Team that spent countless hours in the months leading up to the outing, as well as their work during the outing to make it such a success.
